Meghalaya, meaning the abode of clouds, is the north-east state offering eye-catching scenery and plenty of activities to the tourist. The state is rich with picturesque valleys, caves, lakes and waterfalls. The sky is sometimes covered by clouds by clouds softening the views and sometimes after a light drizzle the sun peeps out from between the clouds revealing a gorgeous rainbow which is a mesmerizing sight. Cherrapunji
The wettest place in the world located 54 km south from Shillong. Cherrapunji also called ‘Sohra’ receives an average rainfall 12000 mm in a year due to which many natural waterfalls and natural beauty can be observed. It includes Dain Thelen falls, Noh Sngithiang falls, Noh Kalikai falls, Kynrem Falls , Mawkdok Dympep Valley View, Sa-I-Mika Park, Ka Kper Syiem Sohra (cremation ground of the Sohra Syiemship), Nongsawlia, Mawmluh Cave, Eco Park, Mawsmai Cave, Ka Khoh Ramhah, Ka Khoh Ramhah, The Lawshynna Cave. In Cherapunji tourist witnesses the Living Double-decker Root Bridge where trekking and hiking activities are offered is an attraction is offered.

Tura
This place is located in the West Garo Hills, is again a top, unexplored and spellbound tourist attraction in Meghalaya. Tura is well known for the Nokrek National Park which is 12km away. In these National Park animals such as the wild buffalo, golden catpheasant, leopard, and many more find habitat are seen. Beside the National Park Rongbang Dar Falls, Siju caves are also must visiting tourist spot in Tura.
Tura is 323 km away from state capital Shillong. Night bus service operated by Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) is available from the MTC station, Police Bazar. Helicopter services are also available for the journey to Tura from Shillong. Information and Tickets are available in MTC Bus stand.
